Getting Started

For patients — getting started with the patient portal

Enrol with your clinic, create your portal account, and book your first appointment online.

Overview

The MyDentalPractice patient portal lets you book appointments, pay invoices, view your treatment plans, read prescriptions, and message your clinic — all without phoning. This guide takes you from "I'm a new patient at this clinic" to "I have my first appointment booked".

Prerequisites

  • Your clinic's enrolment code or the link they sent you (looks like https://app.mydentalpractice.ng/enroll/<code>)
  • A working email address and phone number
  • A photo of any insurance card or HMO card you'd like to register
  • A modern web browser; a smartphone is fine for everything except complex forms

Steps

Open the enrolment link your clinic sent you. If you only have a code, go to https://app.mydentalpractice.ng/enroll and paste it in. The page shows your clinic's name and logo so you can confirm you're enrolling at the right place.

Fill in the basic enrolment form. Enter your first name, last name, date of birth, gender, primary phone, and email. Optional fields include alternate phone, address, blood group, and emergency contact. Click Submit.

Wait for the clinic to confirm your record. Some clinics auto-confirm; others manually approve new patients. You'll receive an email when your record is active. The wait is typically minutes; if it's been a day, message the clinic.

Create your portal account. Once your record is confirmed, go to https://app.mydentalpractice.ng/patientportal/register. Use the same email you used during enrolment so the system can link the new account to your existing patient record. Set a password.

Verify your email and sign in. Click the verification link in the email titled "Verify your patient account", then return to https://app.mydentalpractice.ng/patientportal/login and sign in.

Complete your patient profile. From the dashboard click Profile, then add any missing fields — emergency contact, insurance/HMO membership number, allergies, and current medications are the most useful for the clinic to have on file.

Book your first appointment. From the dashboard click Book Appointment. Choose the location (if your clinic has more than one), the type of visit, the dentist (or "any available"), and a time slot from the calendar. Confirm.

Check the confirmation. You'll see the appointment in My Appointments with status Pending (some clinics manually confirm) or Confirmed. You'll also receive an email and SMS reminder closer to the appointment time, if your clinic has reminders enabled.

Expected outcome

  • Your patient record exists at the clinic and is confirmed
  • You have a portal account with email verified
  • Your profile is complete enough that the clinic can contact you and check insurance coverage
  • One appointment is scheduled, visible in My Appointments
