Financial oversight
Multi-dimensional financial view — revenue per chair, per procedure, per dentist.
Overview
Financial oversight goes beyond top-line revenue — it tells you which dentist, which chair, which procedure type drives profit. Owners use it to identify under-performing chairs, training needs, pricing adjustments.
Prerequisites
- Owner, Admin, or Billing Staff role
financial_oversightfeature flag (Enterprise tier)- At least 30 days of activity for trends to be meaningful
Steps
Open Financial Oversight. Reports → Financial → Oversight tab.
Read the multi-dimensional grid. Rows: dentists. Columns: revenue, patient count, no-show rate, treatment plan acceptance, average visit value. Sortable.
Switch the breakdown axis. Toggle: by dentist, by chair, by procedure category, by location.
Apply time filter. Last 30 days, last quarter, year-to-date.
Identify outliers. Chairs with much lower utilisation; dentists with much lower acceptance rate; categories with disproportionate refunds.
Drill into a row. Click a dentist row → see their full activity for the period.
Compare to benchmarks. Indicator next to each metric shows above-/below-clinic-average.
Export for action. PDF for the management meeting; XLSX for analyst spreadsheet.
Expected outcome
- Per-dentist, per-chair, per-procedure visibility
- Outliers actionable — training, pricing, scheduling
- Decisions backed by data, not anecdote
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Oversight tab missing | Tier doesn't include financial_oversight | Upgrade to Enterprise |
| Numbers swing wildly | Small sample size | Use longer time period |
| Specific dentist absent | Inactive in period | Date filter excludes them — change range |
| Chair listed as "Unknown" | Bookings without chair | Audit & re-tag historical |
| Want more dimensions | Custom Reports for ad-hoc | Build via Custom Reports |
