Overview

A clinic's subscription tier decides which features it can use and how many resources (patients, users, locations, storage) it can hold. Three tiers: Starter, Professional, Enterprise. Each new clinic gets a 14-day Starter trial; you choose a paid tier before the trial ends.

Steps to choose, switch, or audit your tier

Check your current tier. Open Settings → Billing & Subscription. The header shows tier and status. The Trial countdown is shown if status is TRIAL.

Identify which feature you need that you don't have. Open the Plans card on the same page. Each tier column lists its included features. Match what you need against the columns to find the lowest tier that covers it.

Don't pay for what you won't use. Most single-dentist solo practices start on Starter. Multi-location clinics or clinics with more than one billing assistant generally need Professional. Enterprise becomes worth it when you need API access for integrations or financial reports broken down by chair.

Switch tiers. Click Upgrade or Downgrade on the tier column you want. The system charges or credits prorated for the remainder of the current billing cycle. Downgrades that would push you below a tier's limits (e.g., 30 users on Starter's 5-user cap) are blocked until you reduce usage.

Confirm the change took effect. Refresh the page. The tier badge updates and gated features either appear in or vanish from the top nav.

Audit usage trends. Settings → Billing & Subscription → Usage shows current usage per limit (users, locations, patients, storage). Each shows a percentage and warns when you're within 10% of the limit.

Buy addons for one-off boosts instead of upgrading. If you only need extra users or extra SMS for a season, addons may be cheaper than a tier upgrade. See Addons.
