Drug database

Search, add, and check interactions in the platform's drug master data.

Overview

The drug database is the catalogue of drugs that prescribers can prescribe. It includes generic and brand names, standard doses, common adverse reactions, and interaction data. The platform ships a starter list; add custom drugs as needed.

Prerequisites

  • Owner, Admin, or Dentist role
  • Knowledge of the drug you're adding (pharmacology fundamentals; the database is a record-keeping tool, not a clinical reference)

Steps

Open the drug database. Settings → Drugs.

Search the existing list. Type generic or brand name; matches appear with active ingredient, strength, and form (tablet, capsule, syrup, injection).

View a drug's detail. Click any row. Shows full info: ATC code, common doses, frequencies, indications, contraindications, side effects, drug-drug interactions list.

Add a new drug. Click + Add drug. Enter brand name, generic name, strength, form, manufacturer (optional), and the standard dosing.

Add interaction data. Inside the drug record, the Interactions tab. Add other drugs that interact with this one and the severity. Used by the prescription form to warn prescribers.

Run a manual interaction check. From the prescription form, Check interactions runs against the patient's current medications + your proposed new prescription. Returns any matches.

Refresh the database. Refresh from platform pulls the latest version of the master drug list. New drugs are added; locally-modified entries are preserved.

Deactivate an outdated drug. Click → Deactivate. Past prescriptions still reference it; new prescriptions can't.

Expected outcome

  • The drug list is up to date for prescription writing
  • Interaction warnings fire when applicable
  • Custom additions are preserved during refresh
